BRICK - Residents in the Shore Acres section of Brick are bracing for rising waters off Barnegat Bay as a heavy storm heads toward the Garden State.

Some homeowners, many of whom took on heavy losses during Hurricane Sandy, are evacuating while others have decided to stand their ground.

Police are encouraging people to leave, but have not required any mandatory evacuations.

No shelter has been established yet, but town officials say one will likely be set up at Brick Memorial High School.

Small accumulations of snow are expected for tonight, with larger accumulations possible for Thursday. Winds are likely to exceed 60 mph in some areas.
