Boy whose mom is fighting cancer told he can't wear pink

EGG HARBOR CITY - A 12-year-old Egg Harbor City boy quit his youth football team because he was told he couldn't play if he wore pink gloves.

Julian Connerton wanted to wear the gloves to support his mother, who is fighting breast cancer. Now, the boy's mom wants his coach suspended.

According to published reports, the boy's coach says he didn't realize why Julian was wearing the pink gloves. He says he told Julian he couldn't play because the gloves violated the uniform rules.

Louis Barrios, of the Egg Harbor City Crusaders Youth Athletic League Association, has offered to apologize to the boy's family and says Julian is welcome to return to the team.
