BOUND BROOK - A Bound Brook man recently discovered that he still has a library book that is overdue by 72 years.

Frank Ryan found the book “Football Thru the Years” in the attic of his home. He checked it out of the Bound Brook library in 1944 when he was just 11 years old.

He says that he must have lost track of the book at the time.

“Nobody has ever asked about it, and I don’t think there’s anybody alive down at the Bound Brook library that would know this,” he says. “I hope I don’t go to jail for this.”

A message in the book says that customers are fined $.02 a day for overdue books. The fine would be approximately $525 if the book was returned today.

The book currently sells for about $5 on Amazon.
