MARLBORO - The state police bomb squad was called early this morning after an explosive device was found at the Marlboro Township Water Treatment Plant.

Police say a utility worker found what is believed to be the remains of a homemade firework. A burn mark could be seen on the pavement where it was fired off.

The case is being investigated by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
