JERSEY CITY - Security officials hunkered down in Jersey City as candidates faced off in a mayoral debate.

The event was held at the new student center at Saint Peter's University. Police brought bomb-sniffing dogs and required all guests to walk through metal detectors before entering.

In the wake of Monday's bombings at the Boston Marathon, Jersey City Mayor Jerry Healy has urged residents to be extra vigilant.
