Boil water advisory lifted in Bergen County

EDISON - A boil water advisory that was placed for United Water customers in Englewood Cliffs, Tenafly, Englewood and Fort Lee has been lifted.

The advisory was issued yesterday following a valve repair on Route 9W. United Water now says that lab tests show the drinking water quality meets all regulatory requirements. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) confirmed that it is no longer necessary for customers to boil their water.

United Water still recommends the following measures:

Run water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush the service connection and interior plumbing. Empty and clean automatic ice makers and water chillers. Drain and refill hot water heaters if the temperature is set below 113 degrees Fahrenheit.

United Water says that customers can call the company's customer service center at 1-800-422-5987
