PALISADES PARK - Divers recovered the body of a missing swimmer who drowned in Overpeck Creek last night.

Police say the unidentified Hispanic man was swimming from one side of the creek to the other when he went under halfway. Witnesses say he was with a group of friends when he disappeared.

Authorities say he was found 100 feet from his entry point at a depth of approximately 10 feet.

The Bergen County Police Department was assisted by the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit in the recovery operation.
