Body of missing woman Karla Jose Villagra Garzon found in Chatham; husband charged with murder
CHATHAM - Police say a body found inside a Chatham Township home, vacant since Superstorm Sandy, has been identified as missing Elizabeth woman Karla Jose Villagra Garzon, 32.
Garzon's husband, Abayuba Rivas, 39, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with her death.
The victim's body was found late Tuesday night inside a home on Southern Boulevard near River Road.

Garzon, the mother of a 2-year-old, was reported missing by Rivas on Feb. 24, the morning after she disappeared. He told police she left their home to walk to a Walgreens and never returned.
Neighbor Diana Giraldo questioned that explanation almost immediately, since there are closer pharmacies. "And they have two cars," she says. "Why did she go walking?"
The prosecutor says Garzon's cause of death has been determined to be asphyxiation and blunt-force trauma.
Rivas is being held on $2 million bail.
