Waldwick residents lined the streets to honor the of return Staff Sgt. Joseph D'Augustine. The 29-year-old died March 27 in the Helmand province, two weeks before he was due to come home for his sister's wedding.

D'Augustine was assigned to an explosive ordnance disposal unit from the 8th Engineer Support Battalion of the 2nd Marine Logistics Group, part of the Second Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

People lined the streets in Waldwick and Ho-Ho-Kus as the procession wound its way past Waldwick High School, where D'Augustine graduated in 2001. Students lined up outside wearing red, white and blue. The casket then arrived at St. Luke's Catholic Church for the viewing.

A viewing is being held until 9 p.m. tonight and a funeral Mass will be held tomorrow.
