Bodies found in LI during search for Jersey City woman

BABYLON, N.Y. - (AP) - Four bodies have been discovered at a beachon New York's Long Island during a search for a missing New Jerseywoman.

Suffolk County police say three bodies were found Monday at OakBeach, which is on a remote barrier island that divides the GreatSouth Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

The bodies were near where skeletal remains were discovered overthe weekend.

Police were continuing to search into Monday evening.

A police canine unit searching the area Saturday came upon thefirst body. The unit was searching the area in response to amissing-person report made in May after Jersey City, N.J., residentShannon Gilbert vanished.

Oak Beach is one of a series of beaches run by towns andmunicipalities. The bodies found there haven't been identified.
