FANWOOD - A BMW lost control on a Fanwood street and went airborne, eventually landing in a home Friday afternoon.
Witnesses say the black car was apparently speeding eastbound on Paterson Road went it went through a stop sign and onto a front lawn. It was traveling so fast, it passed over two parked cars and crashed into a home two houses down.
The driver, a 47-year-old man from Plainfield, is listed in stable condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Police say he may have suffered from a medical condition.
Neighbors couldn't believe what they saw. "It was like something out of a bad movie," Kathy Porter says. "I've never seen a car going so fast. And I've never seen anything quite like watching a car go through the air and hit a home."
The family who lives in the home that the car crashed into was away on vacation. No one else was injured in the accident.
