BLOOMFIELD - Bloomfield police are warning parents and children to be extra careful after reports of an attempted luring in Brookdale Park.

The incident supposedly happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday inside the park. A group of 11- and 12-year-olds reported to police that a man pretending to be a police officer approached the kids and asked them to get into his van. Police say that the man was not an officer and no van was seen nearby.

The man was described by the children as a white, heavyset man, about 50 years old. He was wearing plain clothes and not a police uniform.

Bloomfield school officials sent letters home to parents Monday warning them of the potential danger.

Anyone who may have more information about the incident is asked to call Bloomfield police.
