PLAINFIELD - Members of the Bloods street gang showed their solidarity today as they walked shoulder to shoulder down regions of Plainfield disputed by rival branches of the gang.

In the past year, both sides have buried friends because of growing violence that has paralyzed the city.

Hasson Strong and Sedean McCoy grew up in Plainfield. They played together as kids, but since Strong lives on 3rd Street and McCoy lives on Liberty Street, they are rivals in the Bloods.

Members of the group even agreed to join Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs in attending an anti-violence rally tonight. They also plan to join her at Hannah Atkins Park for a meeting on Wednesday.
