ASBURY PARK - Hundreds turned out to give blood in honor of Asbury Park firefighter Jason Fazio today at the Asbury Park Fire Department.

Fazio was critically injured Jan. 10 while fighting an apartment fire. He remains hospitalized and has a long road to recovery.

Donors waited for up to two hours to give blood, saying they're willing to give back for a firefighter who is willing to give his life to save them.

A representative for the blood bank said that the turnout is the largest she?s seen in her five years on the job.
