EDISON - Authorities say black ice caused dozens of car crashes across the state this morning.

Temperatures dropped quickly overnight causing any snow melt on the roadway to freeze.

State police say troopers responded to more than 120 car crashes and 136 motorist aids in areas they patrol between midnight and 10:30 a.m. today.

Police say drivers should take it slow on ramps and bridges since they may freeze quicker than the roads.
