EDISON - New Jersey's controversial black bear hunt will begin Monday.

The bear hunts take place in eight North Jersey counties every morning, beginning 30 minutes before sunrise.

They will end each day 30 minutes after sunset.

Animal activists have taken legal action to seek a ban on the state-sanctioned event.

The hunt will take place through next Saturday, Dec. 12.
