MAHWAH - Bergen County police showed off some new tools in their arsenal on Thursday.

Dozens of officers are now carrying Tasers. Each gun is equipped with an HD camera that records when the Taser is deployed.

Officers also demonstrated a robot that uses several cameras and mechanical arms to disarm bombs. It can be operated remotely by an officer in an armored truck.

"He or she can open the door, drop down the ramp, roll out the robot, and never have to leave the protection of the vehicle," says Chief Brian Higgins. "And the vehicle has ballistic capabilities, where we can drive up to most devices very closely."

Bergen police also showed off four new vehicles, including one that can be used for standoff situations that don't require a full SWAT team.

The vehicles were purchased with grants from Homeland Security.
