Bergen County rabbi relieved after arrest made in attacks

RUTHERFORD - Rabbi Chaim Shapiro says he is happy that there was an arrest made in connection with the attacks at synagogues in Bergen County.

Shapiro's synagogue still has the scars of an arson attack from earlier this month. Anthony Graziano, 19, is accused of firebombing Shapiro's synagogue and another building that serves as a synagogue and home in Rutherford.

Tonight, Jewish leaders met with law enforcement officials to discuss how to protect their places of worship.

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says both incidents appear to have been driven by nothing but hate.

Molinelli says his office is also combing through Graziano's computers in search of evidence and answers in the crimes.
