BELMAR - Crowds who turned out to the shore in Belmar Saturday were met with calmer seas after a pair of dramatic rescues there earlier this week.

One rescue on Friday evening was captured on cellphone video. A group of people had to pull a swimmer who was struggling out of the water.

Earlier in the week, there was another water rescue by a 16-year-old surfer.

The strong waves and rip currents had been churned up by Hurricane Cristobal out in the Atlantic.
