BELMAR - Belmar was filled with flags as the town held its first-ever Military Appreciation Day.

The town wanted to do something to honor all those who served and are serving, and to say "thank you" to them and their families for their sacrifice.

The town offered veterans and their families free passes to the beach today as a sign of appreciation.

Local businesses lined up offering free food and numerous volunteers also came out to help make the day special for the veterans.
