NEWARK - Scenes are being filmed in Newark today for the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises."

Traffic delays, bus rerouting and intermittent street closures related to the filming are possible near City Hall and in Newark's downtown today and tomorrow.

The city says Raymond Boulevard and Commerce Street between Broad Street and McCarter Highway could be closed from time to time today. Park Place, East Park Street and a two-block stretch of Mulberry could also be shut down.

City and transit officials are urging those who work in the city to allow extra time for their commutes.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker tweeted in May that movie executives were considering the city as a possible location for the film. Booker joked at the time that he should play Nightwing, the DC Comics character that Dick Grayson became as an adult after giving up his role as Robin.

AP wire services contributed to this report.
