BRICK - The mayor of Brick Township is hopeful after talking with New Jersey Natural Gas that barrier island residents will be able to return to their homes in less than six months.

News 12 New Jersey assessed some of the damage today and noted there are signs of progress along the barrier island, where Sandy tore through beachfront homes.

Officials say that much of Route 35 is clear and crews are in the process of replacing the gas pipeline.
