BELLEVILLE - A bald eagle was injured Friday night in Belleville after flying into a power line. A picture of the eagle was taken by George Del Grande, of Whippany, who responded to the scene.

Belleville police tell News 12 New Jersey they contacted wildlife officials to examine the bird. There has been no official word on the eagle's condition.

At one time, bald eagles were an endangered species. Right now, there are approximately 80 nesting pairs of eagles in New Jersey.
