JERSEY CITY - A Hudson County judge has modified the bail set for a Pennsylvania man arrested when he and two other people allegedly tried to drive into New York City via the Holland Tunnel with a cache of weapons.

John Cramsey's bail was set at $75,000 cash after his arrest in June, and previous attempts to lower that amount had failed. But the judge changed Cramsey's bail on Wednesday to $175,000 cash, with the option of posting 10 percent.

Supporters who attended the court hearing said they planned to post the $17,500 needed to have Cramsey freed by Wednesday night. But it wasn't immediately known if they were successful.

Cramsey and his co-defendants have pleaded not guilty to weapons charges. They were arrested as they prepared to enter the tunnel in a truck carrying weapons, including a semi-automatic military-style rifle, a shotgun and five handguns.

The crew posted on Facebook prior to their arrest that they were heading into New York to rescue a drug-addicted teen who supposedly saw her friend overdose.

The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
