WEST NEW YORK - Around 100 underprivileged children in West New York received new backpacks filled with supplies to use when they head back to school.
The bags were stocked with notebooks, pens, pencils and markers, all purchased with a donation from Henry Schein Dental.
The event was organized by Divine Connection, which collaborates with state agencies and private organizations.
Organizers say the new supplies are a big boost to the students' morale.
"There is such a need in the community," says Tania Fuentes. "And with everything financial that is happening right now, this is a great asset and blessing to the community."
The students ranged in age from 5 to 16. Divine Connection serves to fight hunger and illiteracy among at-risk students.
