CRANBURY - An unconscious baby who was resuscitated by police and a truck driver yesterday after an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike has died. Three-month-old Denisse Cintron was one of three victims inside a truck that struck a toll booth and concrete guardrail shortly after 9:30 a.m. off exit 12 in Carteret. The baby's mother, Denisse Delucca-Moncayo, and grandmother were the other victims in the pick-up.

State Trooper Ryan Kauffmann says when he arrived; the baby was already turning blue.

Kauffmann was the first officer to the scene. "We had trouble getting an airway at first on the baby, and after 5-10 minutes, we were able to get a breath in and good CPR," he said. A truck driver pulled over to assist when he saw the crash, and waited there until backup arrived.

State Police say it was later determined that the 3-month-old suffered skull fractures and that was likely the cause of death.
