OLD BRIDGE - Authorities have identified a woman who died after a car she was in left the Garden State Parkway in central New Jersey and crashed into a tree.

NJ.com reports that authorities say it happened Monday afternoon in the Middlesex County township of Old Bridge.

State police spokesman Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Williams says Marie McNally had been traveling northbound when her sedan left the express lane, crashed down an embankment and hit a tree.

Williams says emergency crews extracted the 63-year-old Summit from the vehicle. She was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries where she was pronounced dead around 6 p.m.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Williams says authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
