Atlanta, Ga. PD recruiting laid-off NJ police

NEWARK - The Atlanta, Ga. Police Department was on hand today in Newark, recruiting recently laid-off police officers.

Newark laid off more than 160 officers due to budget constraints.

Former officer Stephen Morse was one of those taking advantage of the recruiting effort and taking the Atlanta police test.

"I've never been to Atlanta," admits Morse. "After talking to some of the recruiting staff over here, it seems like a pretty good place to work."

A number of cities from across the nation have expanded their recruiting efforts to hire officers who have recently been laid off because of budget issues.
