WEST ORANGE - The astronaut husband of wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) says he will return to space in April.
Astronaut Capt. Mark Kelly took leave from training when his politician wife Gabrielle Giffords was gunned down as she met with constituents in Tucson, Ariz. last month.
Kelly says he agonized over the decision to rejoin his crew, and only decided to rejoin after doctors assured him his wife was making a lightning quick recovery.
News 12 New Jersey spoke with some of Capt. Kelly's biggest supporters from his hometown of West Orange today.
Assemblyman John McKeon says that there is a picture of Kelly at the town hall that they point out to young students and tell them "there's nothing you can't accomplish out of these schools."
Kelly will command a crew of six astronauts on Endeavour's final voyage. This mission will be Kelly's fourth.
