NEWARK - The Associated Humane Society says that the hot weather has filled the facility with animals in need of homes.

The manager says with more people going out to enjoy the summer weather, more pets are getting out too. And some aren't coming back. Shelter manager Joe Marks says they have about 200 dogs and almost 200 cats.

The Associated Humane Society takes in about 15,000 animals state-wide. Adoptions begin at just $25. And this is the time of year they really need people to adopt.
