Assemblywoman wants lottery tickets to be available online

OAKLAND - The days waiting in line for a lottery ticket may be dwindling.

An assemblywoman from Union wants customers to be able to purchase lottery tickets online. She says she came up with the idea after she got to a store too late to buy a ticket.

The Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey fears online lottery sales will increase problem gambling, give minors easier access and push players into addiction. Executive Director Don Weinbaum told News 12 New Jersey, "online gambling is very hard to police and it is hard to set limits on time and money when you're gambling in the comfort of your own home."

If the bill goes through, the council wants restrictions, including limited play and awareness messages
