ASBURY PARK - Officials are beefing up security for this weekend's Runapolooza in Asbury Park after Monday's blasts at the Boston Marathon.

Authorities tell News 12 New Jersey that while no specific threat has been made to the state or any event, extra precautions are being taken.

Asbury Park police will staff additional patrols, including officers posted at every intersection of the race.

Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden says his department has stepped up security checkpoints at transportation hubs and other crowded areas.

All agencies are reminding the public to remain vigilant.
