NEWTON - A sculpture created to honor victims of Sept. 11 got the boot from the Vernon Township Municipal court after a judge asked for it to be removed for safety reasons.

A judge said the 275-pound, two-piece sculpture could be used as a weapon, and asked for it be removed.

Sculptor Everett Paladini says he is disappointed over the decision and wants to find a new place to display his work of art.

The plexiglass sculpture is temporarily on display at Sussex County Community College.
