SECAUCUS - Pumpkin carving normally reserved for Jack-o-Lanterns and scary monsters took on a different type of creature Thursday.

An artist at Field Station Dinosaurs in Secaucus took on the challenge of carving a Tyrannosaurus Rex out of the orange vegetable.

The art and science experiment is in celebration of National Dinosaur Month. "Normally I just do silly faces and characters that I'm familiar with," says artist Chris Vierra. "But I decided to get a little more ambitious today, and build a dinosaur out of a bunch of different pumpkins."

Vierra has carved pumpkin art all over the world for Villafane Studios.

The pumpkin T-Rex will be on display this weekend at Field Station Dinosaurs.
