EAST ORANGE - Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man charged in the murder of an East Orange teen.

Authorities have charged 18-year-old Almuqqadin Means, of East Orange, with the murder of his ex-girlfriend, 17-year-old Aquilla Flood. Means is also facing several weapons charges.

The teenage girl was found dead in her East Orange home Wednesday morning when a relative went to wake her up for school. Police say she had been shot in the head. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says the preliminary investigation indicates Flood was shot inside the home. A determination of her manner of death is pending the results of an autopsy.

Flood was a senior at Campus High School, where she was about to graduate. Family members say she was looking forward to her prom next week.

Police have not said anything about a possible motive or how they believe the suspect got into the girl's apartment.

Family members tell News 12 New Jersey that the victim had previously been threatened by her ex-boyfriend.
