Newark police have arrested and charged a man in a hit-and-run accident that left three small children injured.

NEWARK - Newark police have arrested and charged a man in a hit-and-run accident that left three small children injured.

Christopher Cortico, 26, is charged with endangering the welfare of an injured person after the Feb. 2 accident at the intersection of Ferry and Jefferson streets.

Police were able to find Cortico after tracking down his truck’s license plate numbers. Cortico surrendered to Newark police along with his attorney Friday after learning about the warrant issued for his arrest.

The children were taken to University Hospital to be treated, and have been released.

Cortico’s bail was set at $50,000.
