NEWARK - Family and friends came together this morning to mark Archbishop John Myers' 25th anniversary of becoming a bishop.

A special Mass was held at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark. Myers was elevated to Bishop of Peoria, Illinois in 1987 by Pope John Paul II. Myers moved to the head of the Archdiocese of Newark in 2001.

Nearly 2,000 members of the clergy, including 19 bishops, and hundreds of parishioners helped celebrate the Mass.
