TRENTON - An appeals court in Philadelphia has ruled that New Jersey's plan to legalize sports betting conflicts with federal law and shouldn't be allowed.

The federal judges made the decision Tuesday. Gov. Chris Christie and lawmakers in the Legislature want to use sports betting to jump-start the state's casinos.

Christie says the fight isn't over yet. "We'll see them in the Supreme Court," he says.

If New Jersey is eventually able to legalize sports gambling, it would become the fifth state to do so.
