APK Towing lot cordoned off amid price gouging probe

SEASIDE HEIGHTS - Authorities have cordoned off the lot of an Ocean County towing company accused of towing cars illegally and over-charging customers.

APK Towing continues to insist it did not tow anyone improperly. Some customers are reportedly expecting to recover their cars today.

Residents told News 12 New Jersey's Kane In Your Corner yesterday that the towing company removed cars from their private property.

APK Towing said it was asked by Seaside Heights officials to remove cars from roadways in town so cleanup could begin.

Residents also said that the company was price gouging, charging residents nearly $1000 in fees for towing, storage and processing paperwork.

The company is under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
