HOBOKEN - An annual celebration honoring regional waterways and waterfronts was held Saturday in Hoboken.
City of Water Day was held at Maxwell Place Park on the Hoboken waterfront. This year marks the first that the event was held there. Many residents took advantage of the great weather, as temperatures at last year’s event were over 100 degrees.
Jose Soegaard, with the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance, says the event is a celebration of the harbor, to help reconnect people with the resources that surround them. Participants enjoyed a number of free activities from boat and kayak rentals to live music.
A free ferry also took passengers from the 14th Street pier to Governors Island, every hour on the hour.
