TINTON FALLS - Today marks the one-year anniversary of the rescue of Patrick the dog, who captured hearts across New Jersey when he was found abused and abandoned in a Newark trash bin.

Currently, there is still a custody battle over the animal, but Patrick is doing just fine. He has his health back, thanks to the Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls.

Patrick has become the face for animal abuse and continues to receive gifts from as far away as Canada, England and even South Africa. His former owner, Kisha Curtis, is still awaiting trial for animal cruelty charges. She is due in court on April 19.
