Airports brace for holiday travel influx

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says more than 1.3 million passengers will travel through Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia

NEWARK - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says more than 1.3 million passengers will travel through Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia and Stewart airports for the Thanksgiving weekend.

News 12 New Jersey spoke with travelers at Newark Liberty International Airport, many of whom said they were willing to shell out big bucks to see their loved ones. Passengers say they paid more this year to fly than in years past.

An airline worker told News 12 New Jersey that the crowds were the largest in recent memory.

New rules introduced by the U.S. Department of Transportation that will be going into effect next year mean that airlines will have to be very clear about what fees travelers are being charged, and what they're paying for. Traffic CenterWatch News 12 Traffic and WeatherTraffic Cameras
