An air quality alert was issued in New Jersey Tuesday as the state dealt with heat, haze and humidity.

Temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s meant heat could be seen rising off the boards and the asphalt in Belmar.

The air alert means that air pollution may be unhealthy for sensitive groups like the elderly, young children and those suffering from heart and lung diseases.
