Accused purse snatcher arrested in Bergen County

HACKENSACK - A man that cops believe is responsible for a string of parking-lot purse snatchings was arrested this morning in Hackensack, according to police.

Earlier this week, authorities said the robber, Steven Trainer, 50, grabbed purses as he drove by women walking in parking lots located in Clifton, Lodi, Kearny and Bloomfield.

Police say in one of the more-serious cases, Trainer struck one of his victims in a ShopRite parking lot in Lodi. Trainer was arrested today at his apartment in Hackensack. He's charged with robbery and assault by auto and forgery.
