NEW MILFORD - An accidental shooting in New Milford left one man dead and another facing manslaughter charges, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

They say 22-year-old Alex Bridge, Aaron McMorris, Byron Sankar and Sankar’s wife were drinking in the parking lot of the New Milford Estates apartments early Saturday morning. At some point, the prosecutor says Sankar began to show off a .22-calliber gun and shot Bridge in the abdomen. The three then allegedly fled the scene while Bridge lay wounded.

The prosecutor said in a statement that, "McMorris did ultimately call 911 and returned to the scene and awaited police."

Bridge was later pronounced dead at Holy Name Hospital.

Sankor, of East Orange, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and hindering apprehension. He is being held on $1 million bail.

McMorris, of Hackensack, was also charged with hindering apprehension.

They are expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
