NEWARK - Animal rescue workers are asking for help locating the person who abandoned two Shih Tzus in a Newark park.

A tan 1-year-old and a gray 2-year-old were thown from a gray Cadillac in Weequahic Park. Passersby found the dogs and called police.

"They had definitely been neglected for some time," says Scott Crawford, Assistant Director of Associated Humane Societies. "Completely ungroomed, completely uncared for, and malnourished. So we gave them the medical attention they needed."

"Donald" and "Daisy" had matted fur and were covered in dirt and feces. Rescue workers cleaned and treated them. They are expected to make a full recovery and should be ready for adoption in a few months.

A $1,000 reward is being offered by the Associated Humane Society of Newark for information leading to an arrest in the case.
