ORANGE - An Orange police officer and animal control officer are being credited with saving the life of a puppy that was found locked inside of a freezer.

Officials say that the puppy was 8-10 weeks old and had been hit with a baseball bat, wrapped in a towel and put into a freezer.

The puppy, named Rose, was taken to Animal Emergency & Referral Associates in Fairfield for treatment. She has a fractured skull and other injuries, including a swollen eye.

Police say that this was the result of weeks of beatings. Police have arrested 41-year-old Micah Goodluck, of Orange, and charged him with animal cruelty.

Rose is expected to make a full recovery.
