AAA demands Federal Government block NJ toll hikes

FORT LEE - Cash tolls at Port Authority crossings including the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln and Holland tunnels are scheduled to go from $8.00 to $12.00 this Sunday.

Now, AAA is attempting to put a stop to the raise. Robert Sinclair Jr. of AAA New York tells News 12 New Jersey "In 1987 we sued the Port Authority and they said tolls have to be just and reasonable and they have to be related to a transportation facility."

AAA says that since much of the money would be going toward the World Trade Center and not transportation it is condemning the upcoming rate increase and demanding the Federal Government block it because they say, it is illegal.
