EDISON - They've been delivering smiles to kids for decades, but ice cream trucks can also pose a danger to children during the summer months.

Ice cream trucks need to be equipped with three main safety features to be in compliance with state regulations:

Flashing signal lamps visible from 500 feetA motorized stop signal armA convex mirror mounted on the front.

Local law enforcement officers can issue tickets to violators. Drivers can be fined up to $100 per violation.
