PARAMUS - A group of people who overcame disabilities to serve their community as well as those who advocate for the disabled were honored in a special ceremony Friday.

The Moses Family Meeting and Training Center at Bergen County College was packed today for the Salute to Champions.

"It's really to show that people with disabilities are really just as valuable just as courageous as anybody else," says Division Director Jim Theberry. "But I think their personal stories really really bring it home."

This year nine people were given awards.

Organizers say that beyond the awards, the program also gives families valuable information about resources for the disabled in Bergen County.
